Challenge
taken

The Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) consistently seeks solutions to enhance student education and advance scientific research. Among its key facilities is the Rogów Arboretum, which is not only one of the largest in Poland but also a hub for scientific and educational activities, plant breeding, and a variety of commercial services.

What did the Customer expect?

The objective of the project was to create a showcase laboratory featuring an intelligent measurement zone for environmental parameters and visitor monitoring. A critical part of the project involved designing an educational trail and a dedicated website to display measurement results. Meeting these goals required a network ensuring reliable data flow and operational stability.

Application of solutions and technologies

Urządzenia IoT

IoT Devices

We established a network of Internet of Things (IoT) devices in the Arboretum to monitor selected environmental parameters, squirrel trails, water usage, as well as soil temperature and humidity. The facility management can also analyse visitor numbers and parking occupancy.
The devices transmit measurement data to the IoT Platform, where reports are compiled. From this platform, users can generate reports, adjust measurement frequency, and check device status.

Sieć Narrowband-Iot i GSM

Narrowband-IoT and GSM network

T-Mobile operates Poland’s only nationwide commercial Narrowband-IoT network, which functions within a licensed LTE 800 MHz radio band. The main advantages of this solution include low energy consumption and reliable data transmission under challenging conditions. This allows sensors to operate for years on the same battery while functioning effectively over large areas or in locations with radio signal interference. The intelligent connectivity is complemented by 2G, 4G, and ultra-fast 5G technologies.

Ścieżka edukacyjna

Educational trail

Special QR code stations were installed throughout the garden, creating a unique educational trail. By scanning these codes, visitors can access constantly updated measurement results. Visitor numbers are monitored, and guests can check real-time parking availability on the T IoT Lab website.
